Despite spending sixty years of her life in France, Mary Cassatt (1844-1926) is considered to be the greatest American artist of her time. This book accompanies an exhibition of her works at the Musee Jacquemart-Andre in Paris during spring 2018. The exhibition, which introduces Cassatt a second time to the art-lovers of Paris, is the first major retrospective of her work for more than a hundred years. It brings together sixty important pieces, including oils, pastels, drawings and engravings. She is known in particular for her modern approach to the traditional mother and child motif, an innovation that brought her international fame.
