This stunning series of images from photographer Marco Paoli creates a striking visual narrative in which the characters are the beauty of Ethiopia and its people, its customs and cultural traditions, set against the backdrop of its majestic geography. The origins of the work go back to 2009, with the production of a documentary on the street children from a small village near Ethiopia's capital, Addis Ababa. Marco Paoli has since continued his exploration of the multi-faceted aspects of this ancient land on the Horn of Africa on four separate trips, travelling on foot, by bicycle and by car. The images he captures are intensely connected with the spirit of the land and of its people. The result is an intimate journey told in pictures that are filtered through the photographer's personal sensibility and experience, and in which the camera is an essential instrument serving the discerning eye of the artist.
